ANTHONY HARRISON 4 FURNISHINGS

BUFFET

Attachment-1_3 (5).JPEG

This piece was discarded and used as a tool chest in a neighbor’s garage. It’s light colored wood finish was stained and damaged from the abuse. I chose to use milk paint on this piece, allowing it to distress and chip freely. I honored its time-worn beauty, instead of trying to fight it back to its original perfection. As I worked, I tried to imagine the woman who owned it originally. I wondered if she loved it or if it was something handed down to her. I imagined her holiday dinners with her family gathered around. I am sure it has many memories to share, and my hope is that it will continue to be a special part of a family’s journey together.
