ANTHONY HARRISON 4 FURNISHINGS

BLACK NIGHT STAND

The history of this piece is interesting. It was manufactured by Sieling Furniture Company in Railroad, PA. The company started around the turn of the century and became quite successful over the years. Unfortunately, the competition from the North Carolina factories in the 60’s forced the company to close. I especially love the stunning designs of their Mid Century Modern pieces, many of which are still being sold at auctions. This particular night stand was part of a dark wood set with deep red leather drawer fronts. I know the set was originally purchased from Moffa’s Furniture Store in Camden, NJ, but I am not sure the date. I could only visualize this in black, which accentuates its clean lines. The slightly oriental look, gold touches, and the beautiful crinkled paper made in Thailand that lines the drawer, adds to its elegant style.
